The current executive position titles are not formally in effect. We recognize it is a challenging time for many of us, therefore, the executive committee has decided to flatten the organizational hierarchy. This will permit us to ensure the sustainability of our community of academic women at the University of Alberta.
DR. HELLY GOEZ
PAST PRESIDENT
Associate Professor, Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry
Dr. Helly Goez is the inaugural Assistant Dean Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Alberta. She is passionate about promotion and advancement of social responsiveness in the work place and within the learning environment. Helly is currently a member of the Institutional EDI strategic plan committee. Helly is a Pediatric Neurologist; and a Developmental Pediatrician; Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta; She leads the Neurometabolic Neurodegenerative and Movement Disorder Clinics at the Stollery Children’s Hospital and the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital. She is the initiator and Director of the Pediatric Neurometabolic and Movement Disorder Fellowship Program. Her current research projects include metabolic and autoimmune etiologies for developmental regression, movement disorders, and Treatable Intellectual Disabilities; Helly is actively advocating nationally and internationally for patients with rare diseases. In her Educational portfolio Dr. Goez is the Longitudinal Physicianship 4-year course coordinator and curriculum developer in the Undergraduate MD Program. She has a special interest in enhancing social accountability and diversity in medical curriculum.
